Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I wrote an article that was published in SIGPLAN Notices. Can I get a complementary copy?
A: Yes. Send email to Ginger Ignatoff at ACM.

Q: I want to write an article for SIGPLAN Notices. What guidelines should I follow?
A: See Information for Authors.

Q: How can I submit a conference announcement or call for papers to appear in SIGPLAN Notices?
A: SIGPLAN Notices will run a full page ad for any conference that is sponsored by or in cooperation with SIGPLAN free of charge. Send the announcement to the editor. Other conferences may advertise for a fee by contacting Ginger Ignatoff at ACM. All conferences can be listed in the "Conference Corner Calendar" by contacting the editor.

Q: How can I order a backissue of SIGPLAN Notices?
A: See "How to Order Backissues of ACM SIGPLAN Notices".

Q: Back in 1983 I read this article in SIGPLAN Notices about parse trees for parallel logic languages, can you send me the reference?
A: No. Consult a librarian for help with this kind of query.

Q: I submitted an article to you last week. When will it be published?
A: It depends on our publication schedule. Most articles that are accepted appear within 4 to 6 months of submission. We always send an acknowledgement when the article is received, and an email when it is accepted and scheduled for publication, or rejected. If you sent an article and didn't receive an acknowledgement, or if it's been more than three months since we acknowledged it, please contact the editor. Otherwise, please be patient --- it's probably in the queue.

Q: I read the FAQ but it didn't answer my question.
A: Other queries cheerfully accepted!
